Joanna Jedrzejczyk has made a stunning recovery after suffering a horrific hematoma during her fight with Zhang Weili.
The former strawwweight world champion put on a brave display as she went down swinging at UFC 248 in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas earlier this month in what many believe to be the greatest women’s fight in MMA history.
But the pain of missing out on regaining the title paled in comparison to the injuries sustained by the Pole, with some fans on Twitter comparing her to an ‘alien’.
After being transported to a Vegas hospital to deal with the grotesque swelling, the 32-year-old has since made a miraculous recovery and was fortunate to not have suffered any serious injuries.
In a video on her Instagram last week it was clear the swelling had subsided, but Jedrzejczyk’s face was discoloured owing to the significant bruising which had occurred as a result of the sustained punishment dished out by Weili.
However, in a video on Wednesday, Jedrzejczyk looked almost back to normal as she posted a training video and images on her account for fans to enjoy during self-isolation with the globe locked in a battle against COVID-19.

The post-war wounds from March 7th are still healing, but today I decided to wear full clothes&face camouflage. My physical therapist always says that I “heal like a dog”. Maybe it doesn’t sound good, but definitely has a positive meaning. Yesterday I had to do a “body check” with @kamiliwanczyk to make sure that the bruises, which can sometimes be dangerous, are getting properly absorbed. Eventually, we decided to use some tape to help me get back in shape faster. How’s your day? Hope you’re not going crazy locked in four walls? #armygirl #camouflage #camouflaged #camouflagejacket #zara #taping #kinesiotaping #war #battle #ufc248 #speedrecovery #healingprocess #wmma #ufc

Despite the orders from doctors and the UFC to rest for two months following the brutal battle in Sin City, ‘JJ’ has become embroiled in a bitter war of words with American Top Team teammate Colby Covington.
“I don’t want to talk about Colby because he is such a liar,” Jedrzejczyk told ESPN MMA. “The thing is he wants this exposure he needs this attention because he has nothing to offer to the world.
“He is a great athlete, such a hard worker, but it isn’t him. Someone is writing this for, and I know who does it.
“I feel sorry to him that he needs to jump on me, Jorge [Masvidal], Dustin Poirier. We are such hard workers, very talented people, we are real warriors and he is trying to take advantage of us.
“I don’t want to comment on that, he is such a liar you know.”
