Besiktas ‘eye Joe Hart on free transfer’ as replacement for Liverpool flop Loris Karius

Besiktas are considering a move for Joe Hart as a replacement for Liverpool flop Loris Karius, reports claim.

The former England No.1 looks set to leave Burnley when his contract expires this summer.

He has featured in just three cup games this season, with his last Premier League appearance coming in December 2018.

Turkish outlet Fanatik claim Besiktas are prepared to offer Hart a career lifeline.

Liverpool goalkeeper Karius has failed to impress in his two-year loan spell in Turkey, making three errors leading to goals this season.

Subsequently, Besiktas are unlikely to trigger a clause which would make Karius’ move permanent for £7.25million.

Hart joined Burnley for £3.5m from Man City in 2018 and started the season as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

However, with Burnley languishing in the relegation zone in December, club captain Heaton was drafted in at Hart’s expense.

Heaton left Turf Moor for Aston Villa in an £8m deal last summer, but Hart failed to regain his starting place due to Nick Pope’s form.

It was another sucker punch for Hart, who struggled in loan spells with Torino and West Ham before joining Burnley.

Last October, the 32-year-old suggested he might have to leave Burnley in search of first-team football.

Hart said: “Obviously I have to respect my contract and I’ll fight for Burnley whilst I’m contracted to them.

“But I’m 32, I’ve had a few years off, I feel good, I’d love an opportunity, but I’m going to keep fighting for Burnley. My contract is up in the summer so we will see where that takes me.

“I’m looking forward to playing football again. It’s something I would do again [playing abroad].

“I really enjoyed that experience. English football for me at the moment, I don’t know if I’m going to get to do what I want to do.”
